Privacy policy

How Base IQ looks after the information of mortgage advisers' clients.

Who we are

Base IQ is run by Riverhorse Technologies Limited, 142 Hurstmere Road, Takapuna, Auckland 0622. Base IQ helps mortgage advisers look after their own clients: it keeps an eye on each client's loan and contacts the client in the adviser's name when something matters, such as a fixed rate ending.

Whose information this is

If you are a client of a mortgage adviser who uses Base IQ, your adviser is responsible for your information. We hold it for them and act only on their instructions. We never contact you for ourselves, and never on behalf of anyone other than your adviser.

What we hold and why

Your name and how to reach you (email and mobile), so your adviser can contact you.

Your loan details as your adviser holds them – lender, balance, interest rate, fixed term and when it ends – and, if given, the address and an estimated value of the property. These let us show you what today's advertised rates would mean for you, in dollars.

What you tell us on your check-in page, what you book, and whether you asked us to stop.

We hold only what is needed for these reviews.

Where your details came from

Every record shows where it came from: your adviser's own client records, details you gave your adviser in person, or a review you asked for and agreed could be passed to an adviser. Your check-in page has a "Where did you get my details?" link that tells you which, and when.

Never pooled, sold or reused

Your information is kept in your adviser's own space. It is never pooled with other advisers' clients, never sold, never used to market anything else, and never used to train computer models.

The daily check that decides who is due for a review works on loan figures and reference numbers, not on names or contact details. Your name and contact details are looked up only at the moment a message your adviser has approved is sent. This is called pseudonymised – it is not anonymous, because the reference can be linked back to you by your adviser's system.

Messages and stopping them

Every email and text is sent in your adviser's name, says where your details came from, and has a way to stop. One tap on "Stop these messages" stops all Base IQ messages from that adviser to you, straight away. You can also reply STOP to a text.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

We keep your information while your adviser uses Base IQ for you. If your adviser stops using Base IQ, we delete it within 30 days. If you or your adviser ask us to delete it, we do so within 7 days, except for a short record that you asked not to be contacted, so we never contact you again.

Who processes it for us

Supabase – stores the data (Sydney, Australia).

Vercel – runs the website and the adviser's pages.

SMTP2GO – sends the emails.

TNZ Group – sends the text messages.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask your adviser, or us, to see or correct what is held about you, under the Privacy Act 2020. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

Information, not advice

Base IQ shows information: your own loan details, today's advertised rates and what the difference means in dollars. It does not recommend a product, a term or a lender. Your adviser gives the advice.
